Go to Mochou Lake and saw the Chinese flower.

I went to Mochou Lake on May 1st with my friends, Erik, Sky, Matt, King, etc. At first, we said we met there at 10:30, I arrived there at 10:20, but they were late, I waited and waited. Weather was very hot, I waited for 30 minutes, finally they came, and I was angry.

We bought the tickets, we took the picture in front of the Mochou Lake, and we walked into the park. There were so many people, and tourists from other city, we were chatting with each other and took some pictures. We arrived at the "Hai Tang" region, "Hai Tang" in English is "Begonia", but I didn't know what kind of flower is, it made me curious, so I wanted to choose this exhibition, I wanted to know what kind of flower is.

After took the picture of Begonia flower region, we walked in there. There were many flowers, I asked Erik, Sky "Do you know what kind of flower is?", they said " We don't know either." There were no information about flower, I felt very confuse, so we only took the pictures with flowers and came back to home.

In conclusion, I felt so so about this exhibition, because there were no information about these flower, they only labeled that what name is it, the purpose, reason why we went there was that, we wanted know what it is, but I felt very happy that my friends and I went there and chatted with each other, took the pictures of us, I had a good memory.

Work for Ms.Bartell.

After I did work in my father's company, I felt very comfortable, I felt completely finished, but time passed to April, I noticed that I had to do another 10 hours volunteer work, so I found the chance to do the volunteer work.

First 2 hour I taught English to the East Bejing road Primary School, it was very tough thing. First, I had to know what to teach, and had to teach correctly, otherwise, if they had test about things that I taught them, their mark would go down. Secondly, when we were teaching them, my partner's student, and my student were talking, and spoke loudly, my friend and I felt very uncomfortable, at last, we taught the pronunciation English word, and finished the English exercises.

Last 8 hours, I did volunteer work for Ms. Bartell, when Chinese students did the Chinese exams from April 21st to 23rd, and 28th, I did many things. First day, I made 10 points degrassi junior high quizzes in order. it were very tough work, because I had to be careful, otherwise, I could put the paper incorrectly, then other students could be crazy, and mad to me, I was afraid of this. It took me 3 hours to put the paper in order.Second day, I had to finished it, because I didn't finish the last class, 10-E, on first day, after that, I went to the office, and I did the things that Ms. Bartell asked me to do. First few things were took a water bottle to the office and erase all the old notes on the small white board in front of office door. Second thing was open the computer, and correct the schedule of parents meeting, it was easy.

Third day, I did the blog check, and cut the grade paper for other classes, except my class, Ms. Bartell didn't tell me my grade either!!!! I was very sad, and curious. However, blog check was very easy; I only had to click the blog address of every class, and write notes that whose blog titles were wrong. There were many blogs title wrong, some of them wrote Chinese, and some of them didn't wrote the ......'s blog. I hated cut the grades paper.Last day, I wrote the out of 10 on the job shadow papers, and I inserted the 2 point vocabulary quizzes on Ms.Bartell's computer, at last, she and I correct if there were some thing wrong, that I inserted the points on her computer.

In conclusion, from this volunteer work I felt and learnt many things, first I felt very tired when I did put all the paper in order, I had to run around and put the paper, and I had to be careful. I felt very fun, because when I was working in the office, Mr. Zalba, and Ms. Morgon were talking about sports meeting, and they said something that I could not heard. I learnt that to be a teacher, what I should have to do, and characteristics, such as teacher should be very patient, because to be a planning teacher, Ms. Bartell actually has to cut many things, and plan all kinds of things. Also, I learnt that teacher should be very hard working, when I finished volunteer work at 6:00pm, Mr. Zalba, and Mr. Gallineli, and some other teacher were not going home, they were hard working, they were planning what to teach next day, this was what I learnt most.

GCA Fashion Show!!!

GCA fashion show was on April 27th, it took place in front of Nanjing Foreign Language School library, it started at 6:00 pm. There were no Chinese classes after Canadian classes, so there were 3 hours spare time, I didn't know what to do, and some students told me that fashion show couldn't be write in portfolio, so I was regret that buy a ticket for fashion show, and I wanted to go home, but my friends, this is a good chance to watch foreign fashion show, and models, there are no fashion show like this in Nanjing, they persuaded me to go to see fashion show, we went to KTV at first, and spent 3 hours there.
At 6:00 pm, Erik, Denise, Giselle, Claude, Cherry and I arrived at fashion show, at that time; fashion show had already started 10 minutes.Models were very beautiful, especially, teachers’ clothes, such as Mr. Shapour wore the cloth which astronaut, and Ms. Chu wore the dress, she was very beautiful. Other students were also very beautiful, we saw clothes which we designed, we were very happy. Fashion show finished very quickly, it only spent 50 minutes, we were so excited, and we took pictures with models.
In conclusion, I like this performance, because I never seen this kind of fashion show before, also, clothes were designed by us, we had to go to see. I hope to be a model next year fashion show!!! I will lose weight as much as I can!!!

Cooking

On April 11th, Saturday, I went to school for cooking a western food with classmates and teachers. It started at 9:00 am, when I arrived at school, there were many classmates already arrived. I was in a group with Sky and Mrs. Beath, we had to make pudding, and jello.
When we started to making food, Mrs. Beath asked some students go to buy the materials for food, student from 10-B and I went to Times grocery on YunNan road. We went to there by No.11 bus, we bought the jello and the vanilla sauce for pudding, we went to back to school, it cost 1 hour, and cost 65 RMB for material.
When I came back, they already made the pudding. We made the the jello, first put a cup of hot water in the bowl, put the jello powder, at last put a cup of cold water, and put this into fridge for one hour. Also, we made the mango juice; we put the milk and mango in the mixing machine and mix it for 5 minutes.
After 1 hour, we tasted the pudding, it tasted good very soft, and I could taste milk and butter. I also tasted other groups’ food, such as cookies, cakes, it was taste good, and I could taste chocolate. In conclusion, from this chance, I learnt how to cook the western food, I will cook pudding what I learnt to my mother, I was happy, and it was fun.

Japanese Restaurant!

Today Erik and I went to Japanese restaurant called "Tairyo", it is export on "Teppanyaki", cook food on iron plate, Japanese food. The reason why I chose this restaurant was I am Korean, and Korea also neighbor with Japan, but these two country are have different culture, Korea is a peninsula country, but Japan is a island country, and also people in these two country eat different food, Korean like to eat spicy food, but Japanese like to eat fish, and don't like to eat spicy food., so I went to Japanese restaurant. This restaurant located in 1912, Nanjing, we went to there at noon, for lunch. Erik and I ate roast rice, meat, mango salad, it was very delicious.

There were difference between Korean roast rice and Japanese roast rice, Korean roast rice is not greasy but Japanese roast rice was a little greasy; there was no Kim chi in Japanese rice.

Environment was very good, very quiet, not so many people, but it was very expensive, roast rice was 25 RMB!!! Some foreign people were there and also rich people were there, service was good, many servants were waiting for guests asking something such as order something, payment. I recommend other people go there for only once, because people can't eat full, food that restaurant give too little, but I think this is good for us, we can eat little, also food is delicious. I think this is also business marketing, let people come restaurant many times.
I think this project is good for us, because we can know foreign countries culture, can compare between own country and other country, and lastly we can know the world earlier.

Go to Jiang Su Provincial Art Museum

My mother and I went to Jiang Su Provincial Art Museum on March 8th, there was a calligraphy exhibition that a student from Nanjing Foreign Language School did.
The reason why I chose this exhibition was my friend told me that there were a calligraphy exhibition, it opened at Jiang Su Provincial Art Museum during March 6 th to March 9th.

When my mother and I entered the museum, there were all the calligraphies, and many people. We walked around, saw many calligraphies, we were surprised, because calligraphy which she wrote were excellent. My mother said that she is a patient girl, because if make one little mistake when doing calligraphy, person who do calligraphy should redo.
Actually I hate to go to art museum, because I don't understand art, my drawing are bad, hate drawing, but this time after saw this exhibition, I like it, it doesn’t mean that I like calligraphy, I like see this kind of art exhibition.
This exhibition told everyone who came to see this exhibition that people should be patient. Some people around us are not patient when they doing something, such as wait people, not like slow things. I also not a patient boy, I hate wait people when they late a long time, not like do art work which must be finished by careful work, also hate rush hour, because it make me feel very uncomfortable. After saw this exhibition, I noticed that how patient does she, compare with me, I am a bad boy. I should be patient not want to finish work as soon as possible. That was my thought, feeling by saw this exhibition, it was very meaningful exhibition to me!

Working in the company~

I went HyunDai Heavy Industries (China) Electric Company Ltd in Zhenjiang China on January 27th , because this company is located in Zhenjiang so I had to go to Zhenjiang before one day, it took 1 hour from Nanjing to Zhenjiang. I worked two days, from January 28th to January 29th, 5 hours each day, below is what I experienced.


I learned about how workers work hard in the company, how difficult it is, if they do some wrong things, such as if there are some technique facility get wrong, some manager, president blame workers that they didn't look the technical facility carefully, or didn't take care of the technique facility, the reason why manager, president blame is they afraid that factory will not going on, if factory will not going on, can't make much money, and company will close it. After manager, president gone, I asked workers who blame by them that how feeling was it, they said it is fine they know manager, president blame them is benefit to them, let them working hard.


After that I thought nowadays it is more difficult to find the job because there are too many intelligent people, but the most important thing is that after get the job we should have to do well own job, because we hardly get job but if we don't make any success in the job, either it is nothing and will blame by supervisor so people should do well their job, and go up, enjoy the job, make much money, have the happy life. During in this company, I did translate Chinese to Korean, cleaning the office, hand the document from person to person, make the hole on the metal in the factory. Making the hole on the metal was interesting, but a little worried, because I made the hole on the metal first time, and I didn't want to waste the material, also there were many workers watching, a little bit nervous. Also, translation, my Chinese is good, but I couldn't speak Chinese very well this time, may be it was in the company, it was about the merchant chance, selling the technical things in the company to the other company.


From this I notice that I have to study hard the language, such as English, I have to study well English, speaking skills, communication skills. I will study very well in high school, and university, choose the major what I like to do, so that I can find what I like to do, also I will study Japanese, French, so that I can go to abroad, communicate with other foreigners, and study more and more what I don't know.


In conclusion, from this Community involvement and employability skills portfolio, I learned many things, notice that me, Dennis is very weak, many things are worse than the other people, what a stupid person am I, so I thought what should I have to improve, how difficult nowadays society, as I said front, people are becoming more and more intelligent, I have to intelligent as other people, having happy life, this is what I learned and experience feeling.

Go to health club and go on my diet project!

I went to health club from December 27th to January 27th for my diet project, my health also for my portfolio. I ran running machine for 1 hour, rode riding machine for 30 minutes, and do some stretching for 30 minutes. Every classmates in our class, they call me "fat boy" every day, so I found this chance to lose weight and become a handsome, slim boy, so that after this vocation every classmates will see a wonderful boy and then they will not going to say "fat boy", also my parents said to me that at my age I should not be very fat, because I grow up, I will get ill such as cancer, illness happens and will not easy to lose weight.

From this training, diet project, I learned about how difficult being an athlete, they had to train every day, from Beijing 2008 Olympic games, I knew that athletes they did very good job, especially Liu Xiang, he trained all time before Olympic games, unfortunately, he couldn't run on the track. Every Chinese felt sad, they also knew Liu Xiang trained every day. Also do, I had to go to health club at exact same time or when I had time, and had to do hardly, because I could finish my task successfully, let me felt good. I went to health club 3:00 every day except went to school, I had to take all my clothes that wears during in health club, and washing tower, shampoo, water, and other things. After put the rest of things in the locker, and went into the fitness room, lastly, started the run the running machine.

At first I walked for 10minutes for my muscle got ready and started to run for 40 minutes, walked 10 minutes again for ease muscle, after that did stretching and riding. After finish the training, had shower, went home. At first, I hated go to health club, because I didn't want to moving, doing stretching, running, my parents but after I went to health club, after training, taking shower, I felt cool, something got out from my body, also felt my body light. Doing this everyday, I was exhausted; I didn't go to health club for 3 times. I couldn't bear it, too tired to go to health club.

Although it was a little training, but it gave me big success, I lose four kilograms, I was very surprise, yes, I did, I put more effort on my diet project, also I did dietetic treatment, less eat meat, eat more vegetable. Lastly, I became more patient, running is very difficult, I had to more patients, I couldn't stop, because I had to finish task. This was the most successful thing from this time.

In conclusion, doing exercises is good to us, it can pressing blood up and down, use energy that extra energy we didn't use, if people don't use this extra energy, it will accumulate, and getting fat. So people should exercise everyday.

Game Bar club~

When we go to university, there are many clubs which we need to choose and having the activities in the club, I think the most important thing is having fun in the club, enjoy the activities. In our school, there are also have many kinds of clubs such as drama club, music club, playing piano, playing guitar, and volunteer club, go to the charity and help them to let people donate money to indeed people, lastly, exchange club, people in that club exchange things which they have. There are also many other clubs, but I chose the game club, leader in this club is our classmates.


People heard "game bar club" would think that this club is only playing games, but also communicate with other class classmates, change the ideas, and students in this club who like playing games are like to communicate with other classmates, and know the other classmates game skill, and learn different kinds of games. I think our club organization is very good, there are one PS2, one WII, game program, and 5 PSP so that everyone in our club can play games, also our club member are very friendly, if there were some people didn't have any game facility, people who have played gave to that people. I like this point.


I think our club strengthens is we can communicate with other people, and can have more friends, from this we can improve our society skills, weakness is that only playing games, club leader should have to think that activity which connect to our study, such as play English game, educational game, etc. Also, club leader should tell the student that we can't play computer games, PSP, any time, we should study, after study some times playing games for rest the brain, for example, study 3 hours and play game for 1 hour, but it should not study 1 hours and play game for 3 to 4 hours.

Club in the GCA will benefit to GCA is that if students have good experience in the club, and will have some thing good at, and in the western countries university can show the thing which student good at, and many university will choose students from GCA, so GCA will famous in many foreign countries. Benefit to me is as I said front, club can teach me the communication skill, and other skills, also there are many grade 11, grade 12 students, so we can get some information which go to abroad.


In conclusion, I had never joined in some clubs except had after school activity during in Nanjing International School, when I came to GCA, and joined into the game club, I became more out-going, and more friendly to other people, but bad thing is that I want to play game a lot, if there is spare time, I open game facility, and play game, I can't stop it, only my mother start blame me that I don't study, I close the game facility, and start to study, so my grade is going down, in this year I will study hard.

Wu Weishan Cultural Figures Sculpture Gallery of Nanjing University

All Gr10 went to Nanjing University for watching Wu Weishan Cultural Figures Sculpture Gallery. There were many sculptures around the exhibition. Curator said that all of sculptures around the exhibition, and in the exhibition are made by Wu Weishan, and many sculpture were about people. During the curator introducing sculpture, I saw an artwork, Laozi. Laozi is made in 2005, he is a Chinese psychology, philosopher. There was a big hole, middle of his body, curator said surface mean of a big hole is Laozi can hold everything in the world, include knowledge, deeply mean of a big hole is he can forgive person who made mistake, symbolize harmony, it has many shapes such as round shapes rectangle shapes ellipses, also he used straight lines on Laozi clothes, his eyebrows, and used wave lines on his hair, whiskers, it colors are mostly brown, some parts have a little green. This artwork makes me feel harmony, a little bit boring, it make me think about a big, tall, old tree, the texture he has used is a man has who strong thinking ability that no one can interrupts him. This artwork reminds me of an event from when I was in Junior 2. One day, after school when I was on my way home, it was very crowded, too many people in the bus. I was very thirsty so I took out a bottle of water. At that time there was a old man in front of me. Unfortunately, the bus stopped very quickly and I spilled water from the bottle on the old man. I was apologetic, people around me started talking about it, I didn't know what to do, but the old man said no problem with smile. I know that said these words to give me comfort, but at that time I thought he is like my ground father no matter what mistakes I made, he forgives me. The reason why I chose this artwork were, first I want to be a person like him, can hold everything , forgive person who made mistake, never angry to people, for example, Sky always hits me, but I forgive him, secondly, my classmates, and I felt different feelings between came out from artwork, and went into artwork. In conclusion, I actually hate watching exhibition, artwork exhibition, because firstly, when I watching exhibition I would think that I also can make this sculpture or drawing and make a exhibition, I don't know why they have the winner price of this sculpture or drawing, for example, I heard that Wu Weishan earned the price of a sleeping kids, and when I watching this sculpture, I thought I could make this kind of sculpture when I was in primary school but why I didn't get a price! secondly, I hate drawing, my drawing is really bad, and I don't have any patient to watching exhibition, feel the artwork, what kinds of feeling do artist want to us to feel, I like action things, doing things quickly, be short , do not like romantic, slow things that make me impatient

Eat Italian food!

On December 22nd, Jennifer, Giselle, Kevin, Charlie, Gr12 Students, and I went to 'Ciao Italia' Italian restaurant by bus. The reason why we chose this restaurant was my idea, because firstly, I know where is this Italian restaurant located, and some delicious food, secondly, I thought we don't know where is any other the western restaurant locate, and also our task is go to western restaurant and eat western food, so we have to order delicious food that we could finish the task also we could eat delicious food, although it is a little bit expensive. After school Gr10 students and Gr12 students met at GCA lobby by 5:10 pm, and took very busy no.48 bus to Mo Chou road, and walked to along Shi Gu road to restaurant. Restaurant was very beautiful, because Christmas was coming. We sat down and took picture of menu and I told them delicious food such as pasta, spaghetti, steak, and pizza. However we waited for 15 minutes, during that time we took picture of restaurant. Food was very delicious; I ate steak, other people also satisfied with their food. In conclusion, I liked the food, because Chinese way cooking and Western way cooking was different, firstly, Chinese way cooking, cooks put much oil into the food, so the taste of food is very oil, but Western way cooking, cooks are not put much oil, they put some other things to taste good. Environment also different, Chinese restaurant are very noisy, but this restaurant was very quiet. Lastly most of them were western people, there were not Chinese people. The service was very good, servants were waiting for us to ask something, but I don't want to recommend people to come here and eat. Although atmosphere is good, food is very expensive.
